NETWORK ACCESS FEE
Inmarsat introduced the monthly Network Access Fee (NAF) on 6 July 2020. The monthly fee per terminal is applicable to all new and existing Inmarsat-C terminal(s) registered in the Inmarsat’s Electronic Service Activation System (ESAS).
For billing purposes, Inmarsat requires all Inmarsat-C terminal owners to select a Preferred Land Earth Station Operator (LESO). The Preferred LESO will invoice RS06 (as Accounting Authority) the monthly NAF which RS06 will then bill the owner.
When making Online Inmarsat Service Activation, all Inmarsat-C owners are required to select their preferred LESOs (under item 4 on "Preferred Land Earth Station Operator").
If an Inmarsat C-terminal is no longer operational (e.g. faulty), Inmarsat-C owner must arrange to have it deactivated. Such terminals that are not deactivated, will be invoiced the NAF.
There will be no monthly NAF if a vessel is not installed with an Inmarsat-C terminal.
The NAF is totally different from the vessel Inmarsat communication charges. Vessels can still continue using their preferred Station(s) for their ship communications
The monthly NAF per terminal for Inmarsat-C will depend on the LESO you have selected, and the following are rates that are available.
