Point of Service Activation
Since 2002, MCS is appointed by Inmarsat as a Point of Service Activation (PSA) with code PSA3306.
A PSA is an entity that is contracted to Inmarsat to accept and process applications for Mobile Earth Station (MES) service activation, assign Inmarsat Mobile Number (IMN) and to transmit customer service activation information to Inmarsat.
Major functions of PSA:
- to facilitate the transmission of service activation information of valid applications into Electronic Service Activation System (ESAS);
- to ensure by periodic follow-up that such information is kept up-to-date;
- to respond directly to customer queries on service activation in particular, and Inmarsat systems and services in general;
- to assist in the prevention and resolution of fraud and fraudulent activities within the Inmarsat system.
- to provide necessary information relating to distress and safety.
- provide necessary information to flag state administrations as required.
- to ensure that MES owner/operators sign the company's Terms and Conditions for the Utilization of the Inmarsat Space Segment.
PSA3306 is authorised as a PSA for most flag-state countries (including the major regional maritime administrations of Singapore and Hong Kong).
PSA3306 is exclusively authorised by the following countries
- Tuvalu
- Kiribati
- Niue
- Nauru
